How we evaluated these AI visibility tools
An AI visibility tool should answer three questions: do AI assistants recommend you, who do they recommend instead, and what should you change. We compared each tool on six criteria that decide whether it answers all three for the price you would pay.
- Assistant coverage: Which of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode the plan you would actually buy includes. Add-ons and enterprise-only engines count against the entry price.
- Evidence you can check: Whether the tool saves the full answer text and the exact pages cited, so every score can be traced back to a real answer.
- Mentions vs recommendations: Being named in a list is not the same as being recommended. Tools that blend the two overstate how often you win.
- What to do next: Whether findings become specific actions (pages to write or update, listings to claim) or stop at a dashboard.
- Check frequency: Daily, weekly or credit-based. More frequent is not always better: AI answers vary between runs, so trends matter more than single checks.
- Price to full value: The real monthly cost to get the engines and features you need, not just the cheapest tier.
This is a vendor-published comparison, not an independent accuracy test. See how Monroya measures AI visibility.
1. Monroya: best for small businesses, local-service companies, B2B teams and agencies that want to know what to fix next
Monroya asks AI assistants the questions your buyers ask, saves every answer, and separates being named from being recommended and being cited. It then turns each gap into a ranked job, such as a page to write, a page to update or a listing to claim, with a draft you can publish.
- Price
- Free; Starter $79, Growth $199, Intelligence $299 per month
- Free option
- Free plan, no card
- AI engines
- Paid: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode. Free: Gemini and Perplexity

- Website
- monroya.ai
Strengths
- All six major AI surfaces on every paid plan, including Claude and both Google AI surfaces.
- Saved answer text and exact cited page URLs, so every number can be checked.
- Named, recommended and cited are counted separately; a mention is not treated as a win.
- Questions sorted by buyer stage (researching, comparing, deciding).
- Jobs come with page drafts and are checked against pages you already have, so you are not told to write the same page twice.
Limitations
- Scheduled checks, not real-time monitoring.
- The Free plan covers two assistants monthly; full coverage starts at $79.
- Built for teams that act on findings, less for enterprises that only want dashboards.
Choose Monroya if: You want the widest assistant coverage under $100 and a clear list of what to do next.

AI visibility tool pricing in 2026
Entry prices range from free to $295 per month, but the entry plan often leaves out engines. To track all six major AI surfaces (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode), Monroya Starter costs $79 per month; most other tools need a higher tier, add-ons or an enterprise contract.
- Under $100 per month: Monroya Starter ($79), Otterly.ai Lite ($29), Rankscale Essentials ($20, yearly only) and Pro ($99), HubSpot AEO ($50), Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit ($99), SE Visible Basic ($89), Qwairy Starter ($89), Writesonic Starter ($79, billed annually), Peec AI Starter (€85), Meteoria Starter (€75), Ahrefs Brand Radar custom prompts ($50, on top of a paid Ahrefs plan).

- Custom: Profound Enterprise, Scrunch AI Enterprise, AthenaHQ Enterprise.

Mistakes to avoid when buying an AI visibility tool
- Counting mentions as wins. Being listed seventh is not a recommendation. Ask to see the saved answer.
- Ignoring missing engines. If your buyers use Claude or Google AI Mode, a plan without them misses part of the picture.
- Judging on one check. AI answers vary between runs. Look at trends across several checks.
- Buying a dashboard with no next step. Tracking only helps if it shows which pages to write, update or get listed on.
- Tracking only branded questions. Questions with your name in them will usually mention you. Track the questions buyers ask before they know you.
What changes in 2027?
These are expectations based on publicly reported changes and our own scan data, not predictions of fact.
1. More buying questions start in Google AI Mode
Google expanded AI Mode to over 200 countries and territories in October 2025 and said people ask questions nearly three times longer there than in traditional search. We expect more 2027 buyer research to happen in AI Mode answers rather than on a page of blue links, so tracking Google AI Overviews alone will miss part of it.
Source: Google, Oct 7, 2025
2. Ads appear next to AI answers
OpenAI began testing ads in ChatGPT in the U.S. on February 9, 2026 and expanded the pilot to more countries by August 2026. OpenAI says ads are labeled and do not change answers. We expect buyers to see paid placements beside organic recommendations, which makes it more important to know whether the answer itself names you.
Source: OpenAI, updated Aug 11, 2026
3. Conversations run several steps, not one question
Longer questions point to buyers refining a shortlist over several follow-ups. We expect being named on the first answer to matter less than staying in the answer when the buyer asks about price, fit or alternatives, so tracking should cover follow-up questions by buyer stage.
4. AI agents shop and compare vendors for buyers
OpenAI launched Instant Checkout in ChatGPT on September 29, 2025 and open-sourced the Agentic Commerce Protocol so agents can complete purchases. We expect more comparisons in 2027 to be made by an assistant reading your pricing, plans and reviews directly, which rewards clear, current facts on your own pages.
Source: OpenAI, Sep 29, 2025
5. Which sources assistants rely on keeps shifting
In 9,731 answered AI responses Monroya captured from September 28 to October 27, 2026, assistants cited 46,840 pages across 15,726 domains, and editorial pages were 27.3% of them. We expect that mix to keep moving as assistants change how they search, so the sources worth getting listed on should be re-checked each quarter rather than fixed once.
Which GEO Platform Should You Choose?
🏆 Best Overall
monroya.ai
Best for B2B SaaS companies that want more than AI visibility reporting. Monroya connects AI recommendations to the Buyer Journey, helping marketing teams understand where competitors are winning and providing prioritized recommendations to improve AI visibility.
🏢 Best for Enterprise
Profound
Designed for enterprise organizations needing executive dashboards, Share of Model reporting, and organization-wide AI visibility metrics.
🧠 Best Technical GEO
Goodie AI
Ideal for technical SEO teams focused on structured data, crawlability, and improving AI-readiness through technical optimization.
Editor's Recommendation
If your goal is simply to measure AI mentions, several platforms on this list will accomplish that.
However, if your objective is to understand **why AI recommends competitors instead of your company—and what you can do to change that—**prioritize platforms that go beyond dashboards by providing:
- Buyer Journey visibility
- Prompt-level reporting
- Competitor analysis
- Citation tracking
- Actionable recommendations
Those capabilities will become increasingly important as AI assistants influence more B2B purchasing decisions.
What separates great GEO platforms from average ones?
After evaluating the current market, the best platforms generally provide five capabilities.
1. Multi-model tracking
Your buyers aren't using only ChatGPT.
They also use:
- Claude
- Gemini
- Perplexity
- Google AI Overviews
- Microsoft Copilot
A modern GEO platform should monitor multiple AI systems—not just one.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the best AI visibility tool in 2026?
- Monroya is the best AI visibility tool for most small businesses, local-service companies, B2B teams and agencies: it covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode from $79 per month and turns gaps into ranked jobs with page drafts. Profound is best for enterprises, Otterly.ai for the lowest price ($29 per month), and SE Ranking for teams that want AI tracking inside an SEO suite. Monroya publishes this list.
- What does an AI visibility tool do?
- An AI visibility tool asks AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews the questions your buyers ask, on a schedule, and records whether your company is named, recommended or cited, which competitors appear instead, and which pages the answers link to.
- How much do AI visibility tools cost?
- Published prices in October 2026 run from $29 per month (Otterly.ai) to $495 per month (Peec AI), with enterprise plans priced on request. Monroya and AthenaHQ have free plans. Monroya's paid plans are $79, $199 and $299 per month.
- Is there a free AI visibility tool?
- Yes. Monroya has a free plan with 10 questions checked monthly on Gemini and Perplexity, no card required. AthenaHQ has a free tier with a $25 usage credit. Otterly.ai, Peec AI, Scrunch AI, Profound and SE Ranking offer free trials.
- Which AI visibility tool tracks the most AI assistants?
- Profound and Scrunch AI track up to nine engines on enterprise plans. Under $100 per month, Monroya's Starter plan covers six surfaces: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode.
- Which AI visibility tools track Claude?
- Monroya tracks Claude on every paid plan. AthenaHQ adds Claude on Starter, Otterly.ai as a paid add-on, Peec AI on Custom, and Scrunch AI and Profound on Enterprise. SE Ranking does not track Claude.
- What is the difference between AI visibility tracking and an AI visibility tool?
- AI visibility tracking is the task: checking how often AI assistants mention, recommend and cite your company. An AI visibility tool is software that does that tracking on a schedule and, in some tools such as Monroya, also tells you what to change.
- Can I track whether ChatGPT recommends my business?
- Yes. Every tool on this list checks ChatGPT. Look for one that saves the full answer, so you can see whether ChatGPT recommended you, only mentioned you, or named a competitor instead.
- How often should AI visibility be checked?
- Weekly is enough for most businesses, because AI answers change gradually as sources change. Daily checks help large brands watching fast-moving prompts. Because answers vary run to run, trends across several checks matter more than any single result.
- Do AI visibility tools improve my rankings in AI answers?
- No tool can guarantee that AI assistants will recommend you. Tracking shows where you are missing and which sources AI relies on. Results come from acting on that, for example publishing clear answer pages and getting listed on sites AI cites.
- Is AI visibility the same as SEO?
- No. SEO tracks rankings in search results. AI visibility tracks whether AI assistants name and recommend you inside their answers. They overlap, since AI assistants often cite pages that rank well, but a company can rank on Google and still be left out of AI answers.
- What should I look for in an AI visibility tool?
- Check six things: which assistants the plan you will buy covers, whether it saves full answers, whether it separates mentions from recommendations, whether it shows exact cited URLs, how often it checks, and whether it tells you what to fix.
- How is GEO different from SEO?
SEO measures ranked links for a query. GEO measures whether an assistant names you in a written answer, which depends on the sources it retrieves rather than your position in a results page.
- How should I choose between these platforms?
Match the tool to who owns the channel and what you need to prove: prompt-level monitoring, cited sources, buying-stage breakdown, and the ability to re-check after you make a change.
- Which of the three is the best fit for a single marketing operator?
Monroya. Otterly's dashboards target a reporting workflow and Profound is priced and scoped for enterprise teams. Monroya is built for one operator who owns the score end-to-end — the Buyer Journey Matrix, the opportunity queue, and the draft asset are all in one workspace.
- What is the Buyer Journey Matrix and why does it matter?
The Buyer Journey Matrix is Monroya's core view: every tracked prompt is classified as discovery, evaluation, or decision stage, then plotted against each AI assistant. You see at a glance which funnel stage you disappear from — not just a single aggregate share-of-voice number. Otterly and Profound both report at the brand or prompt level and leave stage inference to the operator.
- Do all three tools generate content drafts?
No. Only Monroya generates a draft asset tied to each opportunity — comparison page, FAQ answer, Reddit reply, LinkedIn post — with hallucinated stats screened. Otterly and Profound are measurement and reporting products; drafting is left to the operator.
- Can I switch from Otterly or Profound to Monroya without losing history?
You can export your tracked prompts from either tool and paste them into Monroya during onboarding. Historical scores don't transfer — Monroya begins a fresh baseline from its first scan cycle — but the prompt set and competitor list carry over.
